A Tribute To Kurt Cobain

Kurt Donald Cobain. Better known as Kurt Cobain, singer-songwriter for the rock band Nirvana. This rock-legend was born on Febuary 20, 1967, at Gray Harbors Hospital. After his parents got divorsed, Kurt began to change at the age of 8. His mother got into a realtionship with a man who was really abusive. His father got re-married. At first, Kurt's stepmother gave him the attention and love that he needed. But after the birth of a baby brother, it looked like Kurt didn't even existed. After bullying boys at school, his father and stepmother took him to see a therapist. After seeing the therapist, his mother gave Kurt's father complete custody. 

After a while, his father placed him at friend's house. The family were Christains. This religion had a big impact on Kurt's life. Kurt was really interested in the Buddhist concept, which is where the name Nirvana came from.

Kurt once dated  a girl named Tracy Marander. This woman inspired him to right the song 'About A Girl'. Another girl he dated was Tobi Vail (from the band Bikini Kill). After she spray painted 'Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit', he was inspired to write 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. 

On Febuary 24 1992, Kurt married Courtney Love on Waikiki Beach. Kurt and Courtney had a little baby girl named Frances Bean Cobain on August 18, 1992. At the age of 2 weeks, little Frances was brought under the custody of Courtney's sister. After a couple of months, the two love-birds got complete custody of their daughter back. 

April 5th, 1994 is the day Kurt Cobain died. The whole rock-world cried that day. All around the world, Nirvana fans came together to support each other during this difficult time. 

This amazing man had already died two years before my birth, so I never got to know him. At first I didn't like him, but then my mom started to tell me about him. She told me about his music, his personal life and the impact he had on the rock music-world. He has really inspired me in my art-work and my lyrics. I'll never forget the first time I heard 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
